Once the second largest exporter in the UK fashion industry, this pioneering firm were the first to produce garments in a wider range of women’s sizes.

The 55,000 sq. ft. building had large crittall windows surrounding generous spaces that could accommodate large items of machinery. Structural reconfiguration was required to partially lower the ground floor to provide a new DDA compliant reception area elegantly finished with terrazzo and oak veneer cladded walls, this leads up to the main ground floor level of open plan workspace. To the rear, adjacent to the neighbouring offices, a single-storey extension has been demolished and completely rebuilt to enable a larger lettable ground floor area and to create a large terrace above.

Original warehouse features have been emphasised throughout, exposed steel columns and brick piers are set off against a whitewash finish around the full height Crittall replica windows. Further structural works include a roof extension to create a stunning new mezzanine on level 4 lined with timber sarking boards that look out over the painted trusses of the floor below.

The team have delivered an exceptional twenty first century sustainable workspace that celebrates the essence of this characterful building.
