Bringing the English National Ballet and the ENB School together
This transformational project for English National Ballet (ENB) sees the ENB School, rehearsal and administration functions move from west to east London into London City Island.
The building was built by EcoWorld Ballymore as part of a wider new neighbourhood being created in Canning Town on former dockland.
Not only does this project bring the two organisations together for the first time, they now have access to state-of-the art training facilities, teaching and rehearsal studios alongside a 600 sq m theatre-sized production studio space.
Beautiful, striking and creative spaces
Open spaces and architectural features including the striking steel and timber staircase have created an open, welcoming environment that shares the creative process with the public both inside and outside the building.
There are built in windows from the School into the Company’s rehearsal studios, giving students a daily insight into class, rehearsal and the creation of new work. The new home incorporates the latest digital infrastructure to allow both organisations to transmit their work to audiences around the UK and the rest of the world.
Ensuring the world class standing of the ENB
These world class facilities will not only fulfil their needs now, but for generations to come, inspiring and developing the dancers, choreographers, costume-makers, musicians, participants and audiences of the future.
