A Workplace Reimagined for Connection and Culture
The Project
At The Post Building, McKinsey set out to create more than an office. They wanted a destination where people could reconnect, collaborate, and thrive as part of their global knowledge community.
To make sure the design worked in practice, the team piloted it in their previous space. Testing finishes, layouts, and details in real life meant the final scheme could be fine-tuned for flexibility and performance.
Sustainability drove the aesthetic. Ceiling rafts crafted from cardboard, origami Tyvek, timber, and metal mesh sit alongside reeded glazing and exposed services, targeting LEED Gold while creating a premium industrial feel.
Across seven floors, the fit out delivers every type of workspace: from quiet booths and conference rooms to open-plan areas, breakout zones, a gym, kitchens, and even a garden greenhouse. A series of dramatic staircases, including two spirals, physically and socially connect the building.
With 260 finishes, 60 light fittings, and multiple stakeholders, delivery required precision. At peak, 350 operatives were on site, making early coordination vital to meet tight move dates and global furniture deliveries.
BW created a dedicated studio near the architects’ office to build full-scale mock-ups and house a library of samples. This hands-on approach fast-tracked decision-making, resolved complex design challenges, and kept the programme on track.
The result?
A space that balances ambition with pragmatism — a workplace that feels distinctly McKinsey: global in outlook, agile in execution, and designed to support the people and culture that drive their success.
