Crafting a calm, inclusive space for Open Society Foundations in Herbal House
We came together with Cushman & Wakefield and TP Bennett for this project at Herbal House. The aim was to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for employees and visitors alike. This resulted in a spatial design created with inclusivity in mind – prioritising the well-being of users.
The reception area, which is open to the public and serves as a co-working space, acts as a central social hub for both staff and events. The use of soft tones, ambient lighting, and biophilic design immediately creates an inviting atmosphere, offering a warm welcome to the office.
The lower level of the office has intentionally been designed to provide a calm and serene environment, ideal for focused and individual work. It features an office library and is complemented by a well-being suite that includes a parenting room, a technology-free sanctuary, sleep pods and versatile contemplation rooms for private or group activities – such as prayer, meditation, and yoga.
The workspace seamlessly flows across two levels, connected by a striking staircase that encourages connectivity and interaction. Open Society Foundations now has a London hub that promotes and enhances diversity, equality, and inclusion.
