Transforming NINJA THEORY’s Cambridge HQ into a lavish entertainment venue

BAFTA-winning game developer Ninja Theory needed our expertise to create a workplace that would entice employees back after an extended period of remote work. We knew this brief needed an innovative approach, so we swiftly brought all the necessary teams together to create a lavish yet flexible 2,325 square metre entertainment hub.

Key to this D&B project is the rich design, featuring a bold palette of dark jewel tones, with some rooms entirely enveloped in these hues to create immersive environments reminiscent of the virtual worlds crafted by the gaming company.

We always enjoy the freedom of a project like this, so naturally, we pushed the design – taking the immersion as far as we could. To do this we created colour-coded zones including; the motion capture green room, the all-blue cinema, and the red bar. The latter features silk-sheen carpeting adorning the floor, walls, and ceiling – further contributing to the otherworldly ambiance.

We intentionally designed the layout across two floors, fostering a collaborative culture while offering varying degrees of privacy. Custom-made desks, timber-lined kitchen areas and breakout rooms resembling exclusive members’ clubs evoke a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. From start to finish we thought about every second of the journey for Ninja Theory’s employees, creating a flexible and striking environment that serves as a home away from home for the whole team.
